What is a Dahabya?

expand_more
A Dahabya is a traditional Egyptian sailing boat characterized by its two large lateen sails. Historically used by aristocrats and travelers in the 19th century, today's Dahabyas offer a luxurious, intimate, and leisurely way to cruise the Nile, free from the noise of engines and the crowds of larger cruise ships. It relies on wind power for a serene sailing experience, towed by a tugboat only when the wind is still.

Is there Wi-Fi on board?

expand_more
Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the vessel, including in all cabins and suites. However, please note that connectivity depends on mobile networks along the Nile. While it is generally reliable near cities like Luxor and Aswan, there may be brief interruptions in more remote stretches of the river.

What should I pack for a Nile cruise?

expand_more
We recommend light, breathable cotton clothing for the day, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and comfortable walking shoes for temple excursions. Evenings can be cooler, especially in winter, so a light jacket or shawl is advisable. Dinner attire is smart-casual. Don't forget sunscreen and insect repellent.

Are meals included?

expand_more
Absolutely. Your stay on the Adam Dahabya includes full board dining. This comprises breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea on the sun deck, and dinner. All meals are freshly prepared by our onboard chef using local, seasonal ingredients. Non-alcoholic beverages during meals are also typically included, though alcoholic drinks may be charged separately depending on your package.

Is the water on board safe?

expand_more
Tap water on board is filtered but we recommend it for washing and brushing teeth only. For drinking, we provide unlimited complimentary bottled mineral water in your cabin and during all meals to ensure your safety and comfort.

What is the tipping policy?

expand_more
Tipping (or "baksheesh") is customary in Egypt as a gesture of appreciation for good service. For the crew, a general guideline is to leave an envelope at the end of your cruise with the manager, who distributes it fairly among all staff. We recommend approximately $10-$15 per guest per day, though this is entirely at your discretion.

Are children allowed?

expand_more
Yes, children are welcome on board. The intimate nature of the Dahabya makes it excellent for families. However, please note that we do not have specific childcare facilities or a kids' club. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children, especially on the decks.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

expand_more
Certainly. Our chef is happy to cater to vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free diets, and other specific dietary requirements. We kindly ask that you inform us of any allergies or dietary needs at the time of booking so our kitchen can be fully prepared for your arrival.

Is there electricity for charging devices?

expand_more
Yes, the Adam Dahabya is equipped with 24-hour electricity (220V). All cabins have standard European two-pin sockets. We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter if your devices use different plug types.

What is the best time to visit?

expand_more
The best time for a Nile cruise is typically between October and April, when the temperatures are milder and more comfortable for sightseeing. The peak winter months (December and January) can be cool, while the summer months (June to August) are very hot. The shoulder seasons of October/November and March/April offer a delightful balance of warm days and pleasant evenings.
